Backlash sounds nice, so if anything, go for that one.

  • posted a message on Lets discuss what we can do to tone down Growth

Ever since I got into the alpha, I have been pretty much 'main-ing' the growth deck. Starting with my first wolfless deck until now, and I feel I get to express my opinions on this matter.

Mostly I will be addressing sysp's proposals regarding the balance:

Great wolf countdown nerf: That would be a pretty interesting proposal considering the current state of mangy wolf. It would also make the Kinfolk Jarl more viable in retrospect, when comparing it to the great wolf.

Mangy wolf heal removed: I am one of the few people that actually liked pre-countdown mangy wolf, with 4 health and only the healing ability. Perhaps reverting this change would fix the semi-broken wolf combo, but I'm not quite sure about it.

Kinfolk brave cost increase: Possibly yes. As much as I love the brave in it's current state, I understand the need to nerf it. (1 countdown 2 cost 2 damage is very scary)

Veteran nerf: I don't think veteran is in need of a nerf, but, again: I did like the pre-haste veteran better.

Godhand nerf: I agree with the nerf. Even with the attack nerf, it is still pretty powerful.

Quake nerf: I don't think a damage nerf would be that great, however here is a idea. Make it 1 growth more expensive or..... Give it back to energy and give growth back the thunder surge. I like Quake as a very-expensive game changer, but if you want to nerf growth, the best would be swapping proposal.

It's actually difficult for me to criticize the resource I have been using, but I do believe that it is in need of a nerf... Or even buff the other resources! Not quite sure, but as the game is in alpha, we could experiment and see what works best.

Yeah, I think you meant Until 12th October. (You have written September, but that was last month).

Anyway, we thought this tournament would be hard to moderate since we don't have the ideal tools (spectating and recording), so we will trust the participants to count their wins.
To participate, you won't really need any fancy software, but any print-screen button will do. We still be finalize some details, but to credit your victory/loss you would just have to upload the final screen of your game as such looks like below.
Anyone can participate, whether you are actually good or not. This is just for fun. We are thinking the main events will be in 2 consecutive weekends, so if you miss the 1st weekend, you can get to the next one.
(Let me note: If you are late to registration, we could potentially arrange something.)

Anyway: I'm thinking of participating myself, good luck out there everybody.

    In-game name: Akvalohs
Have a way to record results?: Screenshot (as stated above)
Timezone: GMT +3 (before daylight saving)

Oh boy, with new update comes new bugs!

    Reported By: Deathwiller
    Type: Gameplay
Description: When enchanted with "Unleash Inner Power", the scroll cannot receive healing (not sure if intended or not). Note: Enchantments that increase the unit's health will do so, but the healing effects such as Leeching ring, Elan Vial, or Hymn won't work.

    Reported By: Deathwiller
    Type: Gameplay
Description: This is a weird one, but I'll try. Reproduce: Great wolf with Unleash Inner power. Attempted heal with hymn. Great wolf attack's opponents Illthorn who is enchanted with Illthorn seed. Great wolf gets destroyed. The game stops. The Game itself keeps running, but nobody has the turn, can't surrender and can't do anything.

    Reported By: Deathwiller
    Type: Gameplay
Description: When Frostbeard is destroyed by a effect, Frostbeard's effect doesn't linger (The boost appears for a split second until the opponent's turn is finished).
Conditions of the noted incident: Frostbeard got destroyed by kabonk in opponent's turn. When my turn began, the effect has already disappeared.

I'm not sure how I feel about this update... I mean the trading features and selling features are cool, but I am somewhat disturbed by the balance changes.

I think there might be some this/next week, If I'm not mistaken. I think it should be sometime soon. When they will release a next update, they will also send out some codes.

Perhaps we should organize a mini-tournament so people would systematically go play at the same time. Every time I go, at best there is 0-2 players extra online besides the bots. (might be just bad timing)

I only stay online for a short while because nobody is there, I leave. Because of this: Many people will think the same and will almost never collectively stay there. It's like a weird catch-22. Players aren't willing to stay because of lack of players and players can't accumulate because they aren't willing to stay.

    You, me...
    Wanna host one?

Host as in: Organize one? Maybe. Someone has to initiate one sometime. (Not very confident in my ability to organize a bunch of people)
I think to do this in a proper way, a spectator mode would be almost mandatory... (*wink* *wink* Jahkob... I'm looking at you)

Of course then there would be a problem of timezones and scheduling. For example: I live in a east-european timezone, so my timing to play with people across the globe (America) would be limited.

...but there are also weaknesses. A major one is that allowing you to interrupt opponent's turn is very cumbersome. It would at minimum double the times when you have to wait for a response from opponent. I'm pretty sure we won't add interrupting effects.

I thought about it quite a time before: "how would you create a response-gameplay elements, without halting the game?".  Which is why exactly I proposed the response phase. It would be between the player ending a turn and his creatures attacking, so it wouldn't disrupt the middle of a turn. It wouldn't be a proper turn by itself: It would be more of a "Do you have anything to play before those creatures smashes your idols?". If you don't have a scroll, then the phase would automatically skip itself in 2 or so seconds. If you do, you would be given a short period  of time to play the scroll.

I understand, that even in this system the few seconds delay would be pretty bothersome and not worth it, and I would understand the devs rejecting the idea.
Just when you said: "Double the times" made me confused a bit.

  • posted a message on Update on Alpha Access for Minecon Atendees?

Actually there was some info on this issue, let me find it... oh here: http://scrolls.com/2012/07/scrolls-for-minecon-attendees

Basically, as I understand, they don't promise the alpha to the minecon attendees, but you guys will get the full game, when it is available for commercial purchase.
Don't worry much about the alpha, you will be getting the game for free. (Unless they changed their minds regarding this.
