  • posted a message on Store Selling Scrolls Suggestion!

I think this is a neat idea. We'll definitely look at improving selling and trading (perhaps also with filtering or searching options) at some point.

    Cheers for the suggestion!

Something along these lines was actually the initial plan for Scattergunner. We might change it, or we might consider adding similar effects to new units we introduce later on.

  • posted a message on Decks won't save in the deckbuilder.

    Hello,

As far as I can tell, this seems to be an issue affecting only you (or at least certain users) - I'm not seeing it, nor is anyone else I've asked. Can I ask you to start the game, attempting to save a deck, immediately close the game, and then send us the resulting log file?

You can find the file here: %appdata%\scrolls\game\scrolls_data\output_log.txt

I've sent you my e-mail address in a PM.

    Thanks!

We do have the ability to replay matches. Next time you encounter a bug like this, please try hitting "F2" to bring up a debug screen with the game id. Using this, we can attempt to debug the issue.

(We'll see if we can find this game as well to look for the problem. Thanks!)

  • posted a message on Beta release date!

    Hello all,

As some of you have already figured out, we will unfortunately not be able to release the Scrolls beta at the end of April as originally planned. We're all working hard towards having the beta ready (we want it out there as much as you guys!). Unfortunately, those pesky Beast Rats keep biting off our internet cables. That, and we're still finalizing the store features and making sure our servers can handle a large number of users.

We're still releasing the beta "Soon". There will be an announcement on Scrolls.com with the release date at least a week before the date.

We love you all. Please be patient during this last stretch!

They were meant to be updated, but something went wrong in the process. We'll update them in the near future. :)

This issue has now been fixed, and you should be able to login (provided you don't have Avast interfering as well). Sorry for the inconvenience!

  • posted a message on Longevity of Scrolls

We definitely want to support Scrolls long-term, and provide updates as long as interest keeps up. However, as you rightly point out, we do need a way to sustain the game over time. The idea is that we'll let users buy the game and get access to the full set of features and all of the Scrolls (given that they spend time playing matches), but there will be microtransactions for certain things. Right now we're looking at selling preconstructed decks (that can only be bought once), a limited number of face-up scrolls per week, and cosmetic items. There are no current plans to sell larger amounts of scrolls or random facedown scrolls for real money, meaning players who don't purchase anything in the store will still compete on an equal footing.

I hope that clarifies our current plans somewhat. It's a tricky balance to strike, but we're aiming for the spot where the game is not pay-to-win, but can still support ongoing development.

  • posted a message on There will be an update before the beta release?

Sorry, I should clarify this. The next patch will include 3 new scrolls (one for each resource). As we've stated before, decay will not be released with the beta (but will be added to the beta in a later patch). We're making good progress on decay, but we've decided to focus on getting the beta out. That is, we don't want to spend time polishing and balancing decay further until the game is out in the open.
