Another possible monetization strategy is campaign extensions, as with the Halo Spartan Ops. I've really enjoyed playing through the challenges you've released, and would be willing to pay for more, even if they didn't include new mechanics.

If your job is doing washing, then you should know what a washing machine does and how to do a load by hand when it breaks down. Especially as new features in vanilla JS bring it closer and closer to jQuery.

I think it's important that you find a project that scratches a personal itch soon. It'll keep you motivated and show you what parts of what you're learning are useful. Since you're learning Javascript, perhaps you could install Greasemonkey and write a tweak script for a site you use a lot? Whether for fun or work, you can add major improvement with limited effort.

@MansOlson: Thanks for responding. Would you consider having a DLC system--for example, $20 for the base game, and $10 for Decay, and you can choose whether to play against people who've bought DLC that you don't have or not?

Great job, Mojang. The challenges are a a lot of fun and the store changes are good. It does feel like it's going to be pay-to-win, though. A good deck will cost hundreds of thousands, and you can grind a hundred gold per game. In particular, it would be frustrating as a casual player to consistently be matched against people with inferior ability and superior decks. As I mentioned in chat before, I really think that a formal mechanism for challenging people to a default-cards-only game would be a lot of fun.
